 Lake Monduran is currently stocked with Barramundi and Bass. Each year around 100,000 fingerlings are released into the lake. A fishing permit is required if you are over 18 and the cost is: - $7.00 per week or - $35.00 per year - Pension Concession Rate of $31.50 per year.

The Barramundi are more active through the warmer months and there is no particular closed season. From the 1st November until the 1st February each year the possession limit is dropped from 5 to 1. There are no current boating restrictions for this dam. There are 2 boat ramps to launch your boat and get out on the water for some real fishing experiences. Lake Monduran’s fishing can be absolutely adrenalin pumping and heart pounding. The methods we use for fishing the lake are by trolling and casting lures. While trolling for these monsters is more than acceptable the real sport and art of landing one of these giants is by casting. Lake Monduran is an extensive waterway with a lot of stand up timber, connecting river systems with lantana and fallen down trees for the barra and bass to call home. To maximise your chances of catching a BIG BARRA, use a specialised Barra rod and reel with no less than 40 to 50 pound braided line with a good strong leader 50 to 100 pound.
