Lake Monduran Queensland
Lake Monduran is located 20 kilometres north
of Gin Gin on the Bruce Highway and four kilometres east down Monduran
Dam Road. The lake is the largest impoundment in Australia with
both Bass and Barramundi species available all year round with its
peak being from mid September through to April each year.
Covering 5,342 hectares the lake has a shoreline of 400 kilometres
and travels 32 kilometres upstream from the dam itself making Lake
Monduran the fifth largest dam in Queensland. With facilities such
as powered and un-powered camping sites, self contained air conditioned
cabins, kiosk, laundry, picnic areas, barbecues, boat ramp, and
boat hire, it makes great fun for the whole family.
The Lake Monduran Recreation Area is just twenty kilometres north
of Gin Gin, Queensland and only four kilometres off the Bruce Highway
on bitumen road. Take a wander around our natural bushlands and
see some of our great wildlife and birdlife and you may even spot
a koala, echidna or platypus.
Enjoy the peaceful natural settings while sitting around your campfire,
watching the billy boil or just gazing at the stars and Lake Monduran
is well stocked with Australia's two great freshwater Sportfish
the Barramundi and Australian Bass with both species being caught
from the shoreline or boat. With great camping facilities and cabins
overlooking the water, take the time to stay overnight if your schedule
allows you to.
