First things first. We would like to remind everyone that the roads here are public roads and normal road rules do apply. The police have been doing patrols and will fine you if you are caught drink driving, riding in the boat while towing to or from camp or not wearing a seatbelt. There is nothing worse than going on holidays and getting a fine when you get back so please be safe.

Now that is out of the road we can get onto the latest in fishing.
The dam level has risen dramatically since Christmas from 20% to 76%. If you thought the dam was big at 20-30% you should see it now, huge shallow bays, new points and ridges just under the water have formed everywhere.
Now the water has come up it doesn't mean the Barra are going to be harder to catch, Barra will still feed on shallow points and bays and ridges.
I have always found that 10 feet of water is a good depth to start around.
The main basin has been producing a few barra with some being caught on squidgee slik rigs on the troll, while others have been caught on 4m vipers and barra classics.
When casting to points and shallow bays don’t be afraid to cast in the same area for up to 1 or 2 hours and then move on to another spot and do the same thing.
Keep frequenting these spots as there is good chance barra will be there and its just a matter of being there when they are active.
If you are having trouble or you are not to sure about what to look for when finding these areas please don’t hesitate to come and see us at the office for advice.

Morris and his wife went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, “Esther, I’d like to ride in that helicopter.” Esther always replied “I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars.

One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, “Esther I’m 85 years old. If I don’t ride that helicopter, I may never get another chance.” Esther replied, “Morris that helicopter is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars.” The pilot overheard the couple and said, “Folks, I’ll make you a deal. I’ll take the both of you for a ride; if you can stay quiet for the entire ride I won’t charge you! But if you say one word, it’s 50 dollars.”

Morris and Esther agreed and they went up. The pilot did all kinds of fancy manouvres, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again but still not a word. When they landed the pilot said to Morris, “By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out , but you didn’t. I’m impressed”
Morris replied, “well I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know 50 dollars is 50 dollars.
