FISHING REPORT
June and July, yes winter is upon us once again and it’s time to target these silver monsters up in the shallows. Places like the south arm of B, north arm of B, Jacks bay, 2 mile creek and Bird bay are all great spots to start. These systems have a large number of small bays that run all the way through them. You will find the Barra sitting up in the shallow water usually in the back reaches of these bays.
Stealth is of the utmost importance at this time of year, so turn your motor of well before you get there and sneak in on your electric. The lures of choice have been the suspending Jazz dangler 115, Z man frogs, tropic angler floaters and B-52’s and as always the pro range slik rigs.
If you are finding the Barra scene a little tough remember that there a mile of Australian Bass active this time of year, lure fishing for bass is also great fun as is live bait fishing for them. Be sure to throw a bait trap or two in as live shrimp are a favourite for these guys and there’s a chance of getting a yabbie or two as well.
If you need any advice we are always willing to help you out whether it be lure selection, fishing hot spots or fishing charters so come and see us at the office for any info.
HAPPY FISHING!

FISHY FACTS:
- The name Barramundi is Aboriginal for “Large scaled silver fish”
- A Barramundi’s age is determined by counting growth rings on their scales
- Virtually all Barramundi are born males, then turn into females when they are 3-4 years old.

JOKE OF THE MONTH
Sitting on the side of the highway waiting to catch speeding driver, a Highway Patrolman sees a car puttering along at 22mph.
He says to himself "this driver is just as dangerous as a speedster".
So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over.
Approaching the car, he notices that there are five old ladies- two in the front seats and three in the back- wide eyes and white as ghosts.
The driver obviously confused, says to him
"Officer, I don't understand, I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?"
"Ma’am" the officer replies,
"You weren't speeding, but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers."
"Slower than the speed limit? No Sir, I was doing the speed limit exactly. Twenty-two miles an hour." The old woman says proudly.
The Police Officer, trying to contain a chuckle explains to her that 22 was the highway number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out her error.
"But before I let you go, Ma'am I have to ask.. is everyone is this car OK?"
These women seem awfully shaken and they haven't made a peep this whole time." the officer asks.
"Oh they'll be all right in a minute officer. We just got off Highway 189."
