Lake Monduran – a fishing mecca

Fishermen and  women: Hire a big barra boat or book a charter with our fishing guide and experience the best of South East Queensland’s Barramundi fishing, some fish being caught are well over the meter mark. The lake is also stocked with Australian Bass, Fork Tailed and Eel Tailed Catfish, as well and plenty of native Queensland fish species.

Take a bush walk on many of the tracks that surround the park and keep a look out for our abundant wildlife or sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet with a good book and glass of wine from the comfort of your campsite or cabin. World Record Barra!

Fishing from a kayak, Denis Harrold landed the monster fish, which tipped the scales at 44.6kg. It measured in at 135cm with a whopping girth of 107cm. The Monduran fish broke the old world mark of 37.85 kilograms – held since 1999 from Lake Tinaroo, in far north Queensland – by almost 7 kilograms.

Guidelines Fishing Charters

We also have an onsite fishing guide known as GUIDELINES FISHING CHARTERS. Rob is an experienced freshwater angler with extensive knowledge on Lake Monduran and operates out of a 475 Hornet Wildfisher boat to get you to the hotspots in a hurry. This service offfers the angler the best possible chance of catching a Barramundi or Bass with Rob teaching you the correct techniques, showing you the right enviroment to look for and the correct equipment to use.

For the experienced angler in Freshwater fishing, Rob is there to give you the good oil on where the fish are biting and what lures are working well as he is out there every day. Rob’s prices are $90.00 per hour for 2 people or $100.00 per hour for 3 people and he supplies all fishing gear, so just hop onboard with your lunch and refreshments and get ready for some Barramundi action. (minimum 3 hours)
